Carlisle Community Trails Day Challenge

Walk the trails. Connect with nature. Play Trail Marker Bingo. Celebrate the history of local conservation by joining the Carlisle Community Trails Day Challenge.

Check out our town trails map and select the walk you would like to take. Sign up - go solo, or invite your friends, family and group members to walk the trails at your chosen time and place, subject to distancing guidelines then in place. Print out one or more Trail Marker Bingo cards and have fun matching the nature-themed artwork on your card to the original artwork on the trail intersection markers. Report and post photos of your walk and Bingo wins to #carlisletrailsday to virtually celebrate and share with others.

Date: Saturday, May 29th, 2021 through Sunday, June 6th

Location: Town of Carlisle

Special Instructions: Go to www.carlisletrailsday.org. Click on "Sign up for a walk," select your walk(s) and enter your participant information. 

Event starts at sunrise, Saturday, May 29 and runs for 9 days- until sunset on Sunday, June 6, 2021. This captures both weekends and National Trails Day (on June 5). Participants can walk on any day and at any time they choose. They can walk multiple trails and on multiple days.

Nashua Art Tour: Main Street

Visit the public art of Nashua, New Hampshire, in person or virtually, with a free downloadable smartphone app. This 14-stop art tour on the free DISTRX app is available in English and Spanish.

The tour takes you on an easy-to-walk route along Main Street and side streets, showcasing historic and modern murals, as well as sculptures. Using the app on your smartphone, you can listen to a description of the history of the piece and its artist. The app also has written information and links for further research and exploration.

This free walking tour has been an especially valuable option as folks have practiced social distancing, as it is an outdoor activity that families or friends could experience at their own pace while following health guidelines.

Date & Time: This tour is self guided and available anytime by downloading the Distrx app from any smartphone. The user can chose to explore the tour virtually from anywhere, but we encourage you to visit in person to see all the wonderful art our city has to offer! The tour is numbered in stops from 1-15 and can be completed in any order. 

Location: Nashua, NH

Driving Directions: Take US Route 3 North Everett Turkpike to Exit 5 East, to Kinsley Street, Left onto Elm Street.

Parking Instructions: To start at the beginning and follow in order, please make your way to 16 Elm Street and park at the Parking Garage--Free on Saturday and Sunday and Free after 5pm on weekdays. Otherwise payment can be made at kiosk.

A Center Cemetery Tour

Come visit the resting places of the people who made Harvard, Massachusetts!

This self-guided tour through time explores the days of the town's incorporation through the late 20th century and the lives of Founding Fathers Simon Stone and Peter Atherton, the slave Othello, black Civil War soldier William Henry Hall, stone cutter Isaac Stone, philanthropist Margaret Blanchard, and adventurer William Savage. Each of these former residents pursued their dream of creating a better world for their children and each contributed to making Harvard a better place today. Whether you are guided by our website, harvardhistory.org/events, or follow our guide booklet, this tour is fun for all ages.

Driving Directions: From Rt 2 follow Rt 110-111 South to Harvard Center. Entrance to Burial Grounds is between Harvard General Store & Congregational Church.

From Rt 495 follow Rt 111 North to Harvard Center. Entrance to Burial Grounds is between Harvard General Store and Congregational Church.

Parking Instructions: Parking can be found around center of Harvard as well as at The Bromfield School, 14 Massachusetts Ave.

Dinosaurs at Sholan Farms–Oh My!

Visit historic Sholan Farms for an exciting Story Walk featuring “Buying, Training and Caring for Your Dinosaur” by Laura Joy Rennert.

Project Apples and Sholan Farms offer young children an exciting opportunity to explore and learn about dinosaurs. Permanent enclosures at Sholan will encase our Story Walk. The book, “Buying, Training and Caring for Your Dinosaur” by Laura Joy Rennert, contains facts about dinosaurs and will keep children engaged as they travel from one station to another. Children and their caregivers can find the hidden plastic dinosaurs placed along the walking trail. Each hidden dinosaur will list 3 facts about that dinosaur species.

Leominster Project Apples is the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) program for our community. We serve young children (ages birth - *8) in our community. We are funded by a grant from the MA Department of Early Education and Care.
